Jennifer Good

Name and Education:

My name is Jennifer Good a.k.a. Coach Jen!
I am a Certified Nutrition Coach through M2 Performance Nutrition, specializing in Gut Microbiome, Metabolism, Hormones, and Practical Nutrition. I am also a certified level 2 CrossFit trainer. I graduated from Governor Mifflin High School and then received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University.

A bit about me:

After spending 6+ years as an Elementary School teacher, I decided to take some time off to focus more on my family. I have 2 boys, Tanner and Aiven and they definitely keep me busy. We find time to enjoy the outdoors with many fun activities and adventures including hiking, fishing, tent camping, biking, and swimming. Taking long weekend trips to the mountains are among our favorites.

My passion for health and wellness crosses into the area of fitness. I am a coach at my local CrossFit gym. Although I coach adult classes, you will frequently find me hanging out with the younger kids playing games and having fun moving our bodies! When I am not coaching, I can be found training for upcoming CrossFit competitions.

My love of teaching didn’t end when I left the classroom. As I look forward to continuing my own education, I am also excited to continue teaching and sharing what I have learned over the years about nutrition and fitness.

Why is Good Nutrition important to me?:

We all have a choice with what we feed our body. With proper nutrition our bodies are capable of some pretty amazing things! I want to be able to live my life to its fullest potential and I want to help others to be able to do the same. Good nutrition has certainly helped me with weight management but more importantly, I know I am protecting myself from chronic diseases by strengthening my immune system. As I get older my hope is to protect my body from the effects of aging plus support my mental well-being. I believe by taking personal responsibility for my own health - physically, mentally, and spiritually, I have a better chance of living longer.

What does a healthy relationship with food look like to me and why is it important?

A good and healthy relationship with food wasn’t something I was able to achieve overnight. It took time to understand why I was choosing the food I was eating and then worked on improving my relationship with food. Developing a healthy relationship with food includes giving myself permission to eat foods I enjoy, without feeling guilt or regret from the choices I make. I always look at the physical and mental health benefits with the food I choose and remember that “Food is Fuel” ! It’s all about nourishing our bodies.

ABOUT ME: IM MARRIED TO MY BEST FRIEND BRANDT, AND WE HAVE THREE AMAZING LITTLE GIRLS TOGETHER. MOST OF MY TIME IS SPENT AT HOME RAISING OUR GIRLS. I LOVE TO COOK AND BAKE, AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING MY FAMILY AND I DO TOGETHER- ESPECIALLY IF IT HAS TO DO WITH THE BEACH OR THE WOODS.

NUTRITION IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME BECAUSE I STRUGGLED TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD FOR A LONG TIME AND WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I HAD OUR OLDEST DAUGHTER, I KNEW IF I WANTED HER TO BE A STRONG, HEALTHY WOMAN THEN I NEEDED TO MODEL THAT FOR HER. i DON’T OBSESS OVER NUTRITION AND FITNESS BECAUSE I HATE MY BODY ANYMORE, I GENUINELY ENJOY THEM BECAUSE I LOVE MY BODY. I WANT OTHERS TO FEEL THAT SAME FREEDOM TO ENJOY LIFE TO THE FULLEST WITHOUGHT FEELING IN BONDAGE BY FOOD.

A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD TO ME IS AN UNDERSTANDING THAT FOOD IS SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT WE LOOK LIKE. ITS MORE THAN “FAT” OR “SKINNY” FOODS. GOOD FOOD IS A JOY OF LIFE AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE FULLY ENJOYED WHILE ALSO UNDERSTANDING HOW TO PROPERLY NOURISH AND FUEL OUR LIVES TO LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST.

Heres a little about myself:

Im a husband and daddy to three amazing little girls. My wife and I are both gym owners. I spend most of my work day in the gym and in local high schools. I work with a variety of sports teams and student athletes. I’m also a competitive CrossFit athlete and lacrosse player.

When I’m not in the gym I enjoy hiking and camping with my family in the great outdoors.

Why is Nutrition so important to me?:

I believe our bodies were created to heal themselves. I believe many common illnesses and medical conditions can be treated, improved upon and healed with a diet and lifestyle change. There is a whirlwind out there of misinformation when it comes to nutrition. Nutrition on top of that can be very hard to understand. I want to help as many people as I can understand what a healthy lifestyle and eating habits look like.

What does a healthy relationship with food look like? Why is it important?

I believe a healthy relationship with food looks like an individual making educated and confident decisions that is unique for each person's goals. Its important because we are all different builds, different people and have different goals. Each person needs their own unique plan to achieve their desired asthetic.
